CU-Boulder as part of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey

CU-Boulder joins a national effort to map the heavens in three dimensions as part of Sloan Digital Sky Survey and will be seeking undergraduate and graduate students to help wrangle "big data." Researchers will use images and information collected with the 2.5 meter Sloan telescope at the Apache Point Observatory in New Mexico to learn more about the structure and evolution of the universe, including quasars -- super-massive black holes surrounded by spiraling disks of gas that turn on from time to time to snatch and devour stars and galaxies.
